This Spanish course is taught in an audio-visual format and strives to bring the principle of immersion to its peak in a classroom environment.

Spanish Teacher The method involves the use of simple images. The instructor first uses sentences that allude to the action depicted in the visual illustrations and then challenges the student to respond by asking animated questions that demonstrate the concept being taught.

Spanish ClassroomThe ideal group size for learning consists of eight to ten students. As the sentences are repeated the students hear each other. As one student is challenged to answer, the others listen and formulate the answer mentally thus leaving enough time for each student to absorb and incorporate the sentences into part of his own thinking process. All students have a turn at the question and answer process. By accumulative decipherment they learn the meaning and respond actively and verbally. Grammatical structures are absorbed by usage rather than memorization. Such usage enables the student to think in Spanish.

The course consists of twenty lessons. Each lesson has a dialogue that is illustrated with images of the action involved. A question and answer workout follows the dialogue. There is a grammatical structure section emphasizing all structures used. It is also taught in a question and answer audio-visual format.

At the completion of each four lessons there is a set of oral exercises and a summary that cover the material studied. The student receives the oral exercises in a recorded tape that he can listen to after class.
